When the time came for last night’s final award at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards; a somewhat disappoint happened for fans of HBO’s Insecure and FX’s Atlanta. Before the night happened it was expected that one of the fan favorite shows was going to walk away with the award for ‘Show Of The Year’. Well unfortunately that did not go as planned. Issa Rae and the folks over at Atlanta watched on as Netflix’s Stranger Things took home the new award. This was a first for MTV to hand out such an award since they’ve focused on music, and movie genres. Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, and This Is Us also fell short from taking home the top spot. Regardless if they won or loss both shows looked to have had a good time at the event. A premiere date for season 2 of Atlanta has yet to be announced, while Issa’s Insecure is set to come back to HBO on July 23rd.
